An U.S. Navy hunter-killer group organized around USS Guadalcanal (CVE-60) and including the USS Pillsbury (DE-133) captured the German Type IXC submarine U-505, on 4 June 1944. The preserved U-505 can be seen in Chicago's Griffin Museum of Science and Industry.
